Fun facts:
She is one of the few high ranked gems that (secretly) has a positive attitude towards cross-gem fusions like Garnet - she lets gems in her court experiment with cross fusion if they want to try.
Adding to that, she doesn't care much for her "diamond role" in private. She is fine with not being addressed as "My Diamond" 
and would even squat down/sit or lie down to chat with someone, when she doesn't have to act out her role as "judge".
She loves to sing when nobody is around.


Story
Argyle Diamond was created by the other Diamonds, her sisters, as a “replacement Pink Diamond” after the war/shattering of Pink Diamond. She was initially a disappoint to them because of her darker colour and clear differences to Pink, but after demonstrating her (very impressive) ability to shapeshift into what Pink was perceived as, she was accepted into the group of elite Diamonds and considered worthy enough to be involved in their meetings etc.

It was not too long until Argyle started to be picked on for not being like Pink enough. Not only did she have to look like her most of the time, but Yellow and Blue demanded that she acted, walked, talked, sung, even laughed in the same way as Pink. If she wasn’t like Pink enough, and didn’t act her out right, they got angry with her for being so “inaccurate.” ~ Eventually the pressure of being a gem she never met got to Argyle, and she started to reject the prospect. At one particular day, at a very important Diamond ball on Homeworld, she was berated by Yellow Diamond for dancing in the entirely wrong way, because Pink “wouldn’t do it like that.” Argyle snapped. She shouted at her fellow sisters, telling them that she cannot stand to be somebody she is not for the rest of her existence. Blue Diamond turned away from her, disgusted with her attitude, and instructed her to “go be [her] awful self somewhere else.”

Argyle now encourages gems to engage in all sorts of self-expression, and stay true to themselves no matter what. Although there is tension with her sisters still, as they have not yet accepted her for who she is, she is happy in her sector of Homeworld with gems that really do see her as her, and not somebody else.
